Roberto Cimpanelli, who directed Un inverno freddo freddo (Silver Ribbon for Best Director and a David di Donatello nomination) and next Baciami piccina (Audience Award at the Annecy Film Festival), now brings an existential thriller to the screen, based on his upcoming new novel, Mare mosso (published by Marsilio). In between, Cimpanelli has worn other hats in the film world, as a distributor (Fried Green Tomatoes, Driving Miss Daisy, Dirty Dancing; Sex, Lies, and Videotape, and Dances with Wolves (to name just the most famous of them) and a producer (Paolo Virzì’s directorial debut, La bella vita, for one). Recently, Cimpanelli and his son Francesco have co-written and produced La svolta and Finché notte non ci separi, both directed by Riccardo Antonaroli, and he has also produced Labirinti by Giulio Donato.
